Bridgestones Airless Tyres Arriving soon for bicycles?

The idea of tireless vehicles where wheels or tires do not use an inflatable inner tube has been around for a while especially when it comes to vehicles having to traverse rough terrains as well as military applications. Bridgestone has had research done on the concept and is finally looking to bringing that technology to bicycles.

Bridgestone’s concept is to replace the inner tube with thermoplastic resins to play the role of the inner tube whilst having the ability to absorb bumps giving the rider a smooth ride.

Looks like cyclists won’t have to worry about punctures in the future.

If this was translated to cars and bikes, this can definitely be quite a game changer in terms of safety and possible fuel efficiency.

Bridgestone aims to get the bike tires ready by 2019.
