Toyota debuts nine-seater Proace Verso in Geneva!

Toyota debuts a new MPV at the ongoing 2016 Geneva Motor Show. This new nine-seater MPV shares the same platform as the Citroen Spacetourer and the Peugeot Traveller.

Assembled at PSA’s plant in Valenciennes, France, this new MPV will be available in three different body sizes; Compact, Medium and Long. The Compact variant is 4.6 meters long and has a 2.9 meter wheelbase, while the Medium has a 4.6 meter length and a 3.2 meter wheelbase. The Long version has the same 3.2 meter wheelbase but features an extended rear overhang for greater luggage capacity, increasing overall length to 5.3 meter.

The Toyota Proace Verso is powered by a range of turbodiesel engines with capacities of 1.6- and 2.0-litre, with a choice of power outputs. A 95 hp variant of the 1.6-litre engine may be mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed robotised manual transmission. A more powerful 115 hp version of the 1.6-litre unit is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.0 litre, 150 hp turbodiesel is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the 180 hp variant of the 2.0 litre unit is the most powerful engine in the new PROACE VERSO model range.

Customers are offered a choice of three grades, namely Shuttle, Family and VIP. Shuttle and Family grades are available in either Compact, Medium or Long body styles, and VIP grade in Medium and Long bodied variants.

The Shuttle grade is targeted at the self-employed owner and either family or commercial use, with low running costs and features a carpeted floor and higher quality fabric upholstery. It is available with a choice of 8- or 9-passenger seating configurations.

The Family grade focuses on space, modularity and comfort for leisure users. Its 8 passenger seating layout combines ‘captain’s chair’ front seats with rail-mounted, sliding and removable, 60:40 split second and third row seating, for MPV levels of interior flexibility and practicality. Second row passengers benefit from aeroplane-style tables, and all six rear seats are equipped with the Isofix child seat mounting system.

Designed for use as executive transport and recognisable by its privacy glass, the VIP grade offers customers range-topping equipment specification and comfort levels. Also featuring rail-mounted, sliding and removable second and third row seats, it offers of choice of 6- or 7-seat interior configurations. Mounted on rails between the two second row seats, a foldable table can be deployed for the comfort of rear passengers.

Furthermore, the Toyota Proace Verso comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, a set of active safety technologies designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions. The Proace Verso has also been crash tested by Euro NCAP and received a 5-star safety rating. Safety kit includes Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Driver Attention Alert, Road Sign Assist and Intelligent Speed Adaptation, Adaptive Front Lighting, and an Automatic High Beam system.
