Spotted on the Sao Paulo highway in Brazil is potentially the next-generation Volkswagen Vento, rumoured to be built on the company’s MQB A0 platform.

The new MQB A0 platform is a budget version of the MQB, which replaces the outgoing model’s older PQ25 platform. Some sources claimed that the new platform will allow the new Vento to boast a wheelbase of 2,560 mm, a healthy 100 mm increase over its predecessor.

Volkswagen is expected to offer the same engines as the outgoing Vento, which includes a 1.0 and 1.4-litre TSI mill paired to a DSG or six-speed manual. The hatchback could receive a naturally-aspirated version of the 1.0-litre engine.

Thick camouflage on this test mule seems to do a pretty good job of hiding the new Vento’s details, but the new model does appear to be wider than the model it replaces.
