Expected to make a global debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, the next-generation Suzuki Swift Sport has been caught on camera in Europe.

Exterior wise, Suzuki’s latest sport hatch is expected to sit closer to the ground than its regular sibling, as well as featuring a rear spoiler and twin muffler set up. Aside from that, the upcoming Swift Sport is said to get larger wheels all round, a more aggressive front design coupled with LED daytime running lights in front.

Whilst the video did not reveal much of the prototype’s interior, earlier leaked photos indicate that the hotter Suzuki Swift will get a red-themed interior, with red trim pieces found on the dashboard, door trim and centre console. Red backlight is also found on the meter cluster.

In the past, the Suzuki Swift Sport was powered by a high-revving naturally-aspirated M16A four-cylinder engine that does 136 hp and 160 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual. Thanks to even stringent emission regulations, the new Swift Sport will drop the naturally-aspirated engine in favour of a turbocharged 1.4-litre BoosterJet four-cylinder engine. Expect the six-speed manual to return for 2017.

Can we expect the new generation Suzuki Swift Sport here? Chances are extremely slim, as Suzuki Malaysia has effectively exited the Malaysian market, currently represented by Proton. The first product of this collaboration is the new Proton Ertiga, slated to launch later this week.
