Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official importer and distributor of Peugeot cars in Malaysia has officially taken the wraps off the all-new  308 THP, a C-segment hatchback that has been redesigned from ground-up to be a much more distinctive car than the model it replaces.

The latest Peugeot 308 uses a new EMP2 platform that is also shared with the Citroen C4 Picasso, and as a result, the 308 now rides lower, with a height of 1.46m and wider with a width of 1.80m. The front and rear overhangs have been reduced, due to the new EMP2 platform, which facilitates wheel placement nearer to the four corners. These new dimensions provide more spacious interior and enhanced driver/passengers comfort. The 308 is also lighter compared to its predecessors. The new EMP2 platform results in an overall 140kg weigh-reduction over the outgoing model.

With its compact length of 4.25 metres and well-balanced proportions, the new Peugeot 308 projects a classy and sophisticated presence. The front is dominated by an evolutionary reinterpretation of the brand’s ‘floating’ front grille, and by the strong lighting signature. There’s also a full-LED headlamps, a world-first in the segment and the high quality of design continues at the rear, with the three Peugeot (lion) ‘claws’ drawn by the rear LED lamps.

Peugeot’s design and engineering teams have developed the interior of the 308 around the concept of the i-cockpit. Everything is arranged for an experience that is intuitive, relaxing the driver to focus entirely on the road ahead. The compact steering wheel and head-up instrument layout mean that information can be clearly read easily and safely, looking over rather than through the wheel. You’ll also able to find Alcantara sports seats,  high fidelity Arkamys sound staging with 6 speakers, electric lumbar and massage Function front seats as well as panoramic sunroof inside the cabin.

The highlight of the 308’s generously spaced cabin is the 9.7-inch touch-screen interface, which removes much of the need for physical buttons and switches. Setting a new size standard for the class, it brings together many of the infotainment controls in one place, for ease of use and to create a contemporary and uncluttered cabin.

The all-new 308 is powered by a 1.6-litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) that churns out 152hp and 240Nm of torque. The engine is fitted with Twin-Scroll turbocharger that pairs exhaust gases to ensure maximum flow onto the turbine, while its high-pressure direct petrol injection system improves combustion and overall engine efficiency – 6.5 litres/100km (800km on a single tank). The powertrain is mated to the a new 6-speed automatic transmission with Quickshift Technology from Aisin Japan.

For driving convenience, the 308 is equipped with a myriad of driving aids, such as cruise control, electric parking brake, keyless entry and push start button as well as a reverse camera to help you reverse into tight parking spaces easily.
