Nissan Introduces Shared Car Ownership Scheme

CEO Carlos Ghosn announces new NISSAN INTELLIGENT GET & GO MICRA service

Nissan has announced a new digital-first shared car ownership service that will give people the possibility to part-own a brand new Nissan Micra.

Dubbed Nissan Intelligent Get & Go Micra, the service, based on a unique algorithm that uses social profiling and geo-localization technology, will match compatible owners with complementary driving needs to form a 100% digital, shared ownership community. Once they are matched up, they can pick up their new Micra subcompact that they co-own in this small group of communities.

Each co-owner will have their bills personalised based on usage. This way the person who uses the car most, will have to pay more each month. The bill will include insurance, servicing, access to the online matching tool, smartphone app and in-car technology. Communities will need to agree upon an annual mileage limit of 15,000 km.

Besides cost saving, one of the primary advantages of Nissan’s new shared car ownership scheme is the small user group. This means that if you go in one of these Micras, you’ll only be sharing your car with people who share ownership of the car, so there is potential that the owners will take good care of the car. On the other side, you’ll only have access to one car. So there’s a possibility that you won’t be able to use the car when you need it the most.

The Nissan Intelligent Get & Go Micra will launch at the end of this year in Paris, with cars expected to be delivered in April 2017.
