Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix Axed For 2018 Season

All good things must come to an end… we’ve seen it coming and now it is confirmed, the Malaysian Grand Prix this year will be the country’s last F1 race after 19 years on the Formula 1 calendar.

The decision was announced by F1 commercial boss Sean Bratches and was taken jointly by Formula 1 and Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

“It’s always sad to say goodbye to a member of the Formula 1 family,” commented Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations, Formula 1. “Over nearly two decades, the Malaysian Formula 1 fans have proven themselves to be some of the sport’s most passionate supporters.”

“As we said in Melbourne, we have big plans for bringing our global fan base closer to the sport than ever before, providing an enhanced digital experience and creating new events. We’re looking forward to talking more about these plans as the season progresses.

“We will have 21 exciting events to look forward to in the 2018 calendar, with the additions of the French and German races. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Sepang International Circuit for their hospitality and professionalism over the years, and their ongoing commitment to motorsport.”

Malaysia will host the last Formula 1 Grand Prix race on September 29 till October 1. If you have not yet had the opportunity to watch a Formula 1 race in Malaysia, now is the best time for you to book for a ticket as Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has significantly slashed the F1 ticket price this season compared to last year.

Standard ticket prices for the 2017 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix starts from RM58.68 for a Hillstand K2 ticket to RM613.68 for a Main Grandstand ticket.

Aside from that, there are also new Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing Team Tribune packages with numbered seating available for RM1,335.18. The Mercedes and Red Bull tribune seating areas are located in the Crystal seating zone, while the Ferrari tribune is located in the Jade seating zone which provides the best view of the action happening at the team pits. All Tribune ticket holders will also receive special team merchandise.
