Jaguar has officially released its first teaser of the upcoming XF Sportbrake. The new model is expected to debut some time in 2017.

The large rear end of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake will allow the new model to be even more practical than its sedan sibling, though hopefully without losing any of the driving dynamics.

Granted, the teaser is nothing more than a heavily-taped up prototype, it does allow us to gauge the new Jaguar’s dimensions a little better. The front end looks remarkably identical to the sedan, though we can expect the lengthened rear end to share some similarities with its predecessor, pictured below.

Of course, the thick camouflage towards the rear end obscures what could be a sloping rear roof that tapers off nicely, hopefully giving the XF Sportbrake a sleek profile.

In addition sharing its Jaguar XE-derived platform, the Sportbrake variant is also expected to share identical powerplants, including Jaguar’s Ingenium range of petrol and diesel engines.
