The Honda Civic Type R arrives in the US

In the US, where the brand Acura is a little bit more prevalent, Honda is finally releasing the new Honda Civic Type R and not in a different form in which it normally does but following the same design in which Europe is using. Yes, it may look like there may not be a Type R sedan version after all now that US is getting the same hatchback.

Specwise it slightly similar to the European version. Powering the car is a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four engine generating 306hp at 6,500rpm and pushing 400Nm of torque starting at 2,500rpm. This is definitely thanks to its turbo. The Type R only comes available with a manual transmission, thankfully.

The car comes with 20-inch rims requiring 245/30R20 tyres with 13.8-inch front rotors and 12-inch rear rotors. It is a beast of a machine and looks absolutely stunning as well.

Early models should arrive at the dealers in the US around June and is targeted to be priced at the mid $30,000 range where it competes against the Volkswagen Golf R, Subaru WRX STI and the Ford Focus RS.

Those lucky Americans!
