Following the footsteps of its larger sibling, the Fiesta now receives a new front grille much akin to the one found on the updated Ford Focus. The headlights are now more swept back and slimmer than before, though its still recognizable as a Ford Fiesta.

Unlike its predecessor’s upright tail lights, the 2017 Fiesta receives a pair of horizontal tail lights, with what appears to be a marginally larger rear panel glass. The character line that flows from the front fender to the tail lights are carried over from the older model.

Ford did not mention what engines will be powering the new Fiesta line, but we can expect the Fiesta to be offered with Ford’s existing line of EcoBoost engines, both in three and four cylinder flavours. On top of that, it is likely that Ford will introduce new five and six speed transmissions, possibly with a torque converter to replace the outgoing model’s dual-clutch unit.

Inside, Ford has reworked the entire dashboard, replacing the smartphone-inspired infotainment system with a more modern looking unit with a floating display with Ford’s SYNC3 system. Build quality and materials used are also said to be significantly better than the outgoing model.

Despite its small frame, Ford has stuffed the Fiesta with a bunch of active safety kit, which includes Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Adaptive Cruise Control Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keep Aid and Cross Traffic Alert.

As for the range, Ford expects the Titanium to be the best-seller. Those seeking a more luxurious version can choose the Fiesta Vignale. For the first time ever, Ford is offering a crossover variant of the Fiesta, dubbed the Fiesta Active, with increased ground clearance, body cladding and a roof rail. Last but not least is the Fiesta ST Line, which will be the current range-topper until the hotter ST arrives.
