2015 Bangkok International Motor Show: Ford launches new Everest

After yesterday’s Ford Ranger launch, Ford has taken centre stage with yet another launch, this time launching the all-new Ford Everest, both at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show.

Now riding on an all-new platform, the Ford Everest makes an official global debut today at the 2015 Bangkok International Motor Show. Like the Ford Ranger, the new Ford Everest shares a similarly designed front end with a new trapezoid-shaped grille.

Design of the new Ford Everest is done by the Ford Asia Pacific design and product development team. The new Ford Everest will be available in both four-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive variants.

Despite its new looks, the new Ford Everest packs quite a punch, as it sports an intelligent four-wheel drive system, an active transfer case with Torque on Demand, Terrain Management System, and best-in-class ground clearance of 225 mm and water-wading capability of 800 mm.

The Terrain Management System allows the driver to choose from several presets, namely Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock that alters throttle response, transmission, intelligent four-wheel drive system and traction control for better traction. The new Ford Everest features coil spring front and rear suspension and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle to ensure passengers get a comfortable ride, at the same time, the driver gets a stable and predictable handling on the road.

Under the hood, the Ford Everest is available with the new 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi turbodiesel engine with 147 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque. Like the new Ford Ranger, the new 3.2-litre block now has a revised exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that enhances fuel economy. Ford will also be offering the 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi engine with 118 kW and 385 Nm of torque. Both engines can be mated to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

Features wise, the new Ford Everest has a dual-panel moon roof, a first-in-class powered liftgate, more than 30 storage spaces, multiple power outlets and cleverly designed flat-folding seats.
