What would a racing team be without a competent technical crew in the pit?

Realising the critical need for having the best personnel inside the pit to determine the success of a team, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) are planning to form its own Motorsports Technical Academy (MTA) with the support of The Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS). Through this national building initiative, Sepang International Circuit have formed strategic partnerships with global brands in the racing industry to equip academy graduates with the best tools and technical know-how.

This is in line with SIC’s aim to not only develop motorsport talent, but also nurturing the support staff that are competent towards World Championship standards.

SIC have collaborated with Unipac Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd who are also supporting the SIC Racing Team in the Moto3 World Championship. Unipac will be the academy’s and the race team’s official tools partner.

Unipac, which carries brands like Beta, Ravaglioli and Ezzlube will provide tools and equipment to be used at the academy. Trainees will get to use these tools and equipment on the Honda NSF250 racing bikes owned by SIC, which will be used as teaching aids.

SIC have also teamed up with Franz Mark (M) Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of Ipone lubricants. Franz Mark will be the academy’s specialist partner.

Ipone lubricants are widely used in the racing industry and a world leader in their field. Developed by a French company, Ipone lubricants have been tested to meet the specific requirements of motorcycles especially in hard racing conditions.

In addition to that, SIC have also partnered up with Sinar Puncak RK-M (Malaysia), makers of RKM and SSS chains and sprockets. Sinar Puncak RK-M (Malaysia) will be their specialist partner.

RKM and SSS brands are an ever-present icons in races in Malaysia, and now will lend their support to nurture young Malaysian riders and technicians.

“We are grateful and truly humbled by the positive support given by these world-renowned brands in our effort to push Malaysian motorsports to greater heights,” said Sepang International Circuit Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Razlan Razali.

“SIC will keep on working to improve and enhance our reach to discover more local talent, be it on the track or off it and I hope, together with our partners, we will succeed.” he added.
