BIKES: RM3.13 million allocated to improving Bike Lanes!

Following AF’s numerous posts and even a video on the inherent dangers of the bike lanes, Works Minister Dato’ Seri Fadillah Yusof has announced that a budget of RM3.13 million has been set aside to improving the safety of the bike lanes. Finally!

This positive move comes after the fact that earlier he claimed that the bike lanes were “safe”. This of course prompted AF to produce a video in collaboration with i-Moto.my, to show just how “safe” the bike lanes really are. If you missed it, you can view it here.

This sharp turn comes after a crest! Misjudge it and you’re in the wall…

Fadillah announced this allocation during his actual ride on the bike lanes, which took place on Monday 29th August, reported by the NST (below). Surprisingly, none of the motoring media were invited for this event, AF included.

NST, 30th August 2016. Headline refers to the tragic ‘crane incident’ in KL, not the bike lanes…

Well regardless, we’re pleased to see that Fadillah actually went for a ride to experience the bike lanes first hand, and this is a definite positive step in the right direction! Here’s hoping the improvements are seen to soon. – Chris Wee.
