Elon Musk is very known to be active on both Twitter and Instagram. Earlier this year he mentioned that he wanted to put a Tesla on a rocket and shoot it into space, it sounded more of an April Fool’s joke but recent photos on his Instagram account might just say otherwise.
The Tesla will be strapped unto Musk’s new rocket called the Falcon Heavy which is rocket intended to deliver a payload into outer space. The Falcon Heavy will replace the Falcon 9 and with the success of having reusable rockets, SpaceX is definitely pushing to have more utility with these rockets.
A Red Car for the Red Planet Test flights of new rockets usually contain mass simulators in the form of concrete or steel blocks. That seemed extremely boring. Of course, anything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel. The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit.
Musk thinks that standard payload would be “boring” and that having an original Tesla Roadster would be something unusual instead for the rocket which will be orbiting Mars. That does seem rather creative for a very unusual company who is making many tech breakthroughs in the world.
