In June this year, we were in Taiwan to get a first-hand look and feel of the new Subaru XV, and today, TC Subaru, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia has officially launched the all-new XV here. But first, here’s the preview in Taiwan in June this year..
It’s a full model change from the previous generation XV that was launched here in 2012, using the brand-new SGP or Subaru Global Platform, which results in less body-roll and scuttle-shake.
A direct-injection 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated ‘boxer’ engine that’s 12kg lighter is good for 156Ps, and mated to Subaru’s famed ‘symmetrical all-wheel drive’ system. Available in two variants, 2.0i and 2.0i-P, the XV now comes with X-MODE, which significantly enhances driving performance on rough terrain.
Passive safety wise, both variants come with 7-airbags, that include front, side, curtain and knee, and the ‘P’ variant gets ‘auto-swiveling’ Steering Response Headlights too. The new XV recently won the Grand Prix Award from Japan NCAP (JNCAP) for collision safety performance, and here’s the crash test video from EURO NCAP:
