Apple discloses self-driving car research online

Thanks to a report by Reuters, scientists at Apple has published out a series of research journals online regarding 3D object detection used in self-driving cars. Being the super secretive company, Apple has finally published something publicly regarding their self-driving car efforts.

Previously, Project Titan was the plan to actually create a self-driving car which was then scaled back to focus only on the technology. People in the scientific community, as well as the academic community, are very used to publishing their research and study online in order for better collaboration which can lead to the various breakthroughs. This led to Apple also publishing their online Machine Learning Journal where it regularly publishes its reports and studies.

Creating a car and building it up from scratch is extremely expensive and more and more tech companies see the benefit of partnering with automotive makers who already have the platform to manufacture vehicles. This then allows tech companies to focus on the core of the issue which is to get the software ready for fully autonomous vehicles.
