Here it is folks, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia today has officially launched the all-new Tiguan into our local market.
Available in two variants, the locally-assembled all-new Tiguan is priced at RM148,990 for the Comfortline and RM168,990 for the Highline. As an added bonus for interested buyers, VPCM is offering a limited early-bird special of RM7,000 off the all-new Tiguan.
On top of that, VPCM is offering the App Connect function as an option for the Tiguan Highline at an introductory price of RM699 for a limited time only. App Connect consists of three technologies that allows you to bring smart phone apps onto your infotainment system and is supported by Android Auto, Apple Carplay and Mirrorlink. The original retail price for App Connect is RM1,099.
Despite being 60 mm longer and 30 mm wider, the all-new Tiguan has lost more than 50 kg and now it sits 33 mm lower. It’s not bigger just on the outside as the wheelbase has been stretched by 77 mm to 2,681 mm, so it offers bigger space inside the cabin, with 29 mm additional rear knee room while the trunk capacity has been boosted by 145 litres to 615 litres or 1,665 litres if you fold down the rear seats.
The all-new Tiguan comes fitted with 18-inch “Kingston” alloy wheels, and adaptive LED headlights and rear LED tail lamps. This feature enhances the drivers’ visibility in all-weather conditions. For convenience, the Tiguan also comes with an electric tailgate.
Inside the cabin, the all-new Tiguan is furnished with ‘Vienna’ leather seat upholstery, height adjustable armrest with rear aircond vents, 12-way driver electric seat and “Climatronic” air conditioning system with 3-zone temperature control for the comfort of all passengers. Rear passengers also enjoy the convenience of foldable tables that can be set to four different angles. The all-new Tiguan is also equipped with ambient lighting that illuminates the door lining and side steps for better clarity.
The all-new Tiguan’s infotainment system gives drivers diverse connectivity options and easy navigation. The interactive and customisable Active Info Display system comes with a 12.3-inch full colour high resolution thin-film transistor (TFT), completely digital instrument cluster replaces the traditional instrumentation panel.
There is a preset of 6 different themes and different modes tailored to the driver’s personal needs – Classis, Speed and Gear, Consumption and Range, Efficiency, Navigation and Offroad.
Other features include a wide range of connectivity options through a 6.5-inch full colour touchscreen display, while the head unit also supports the rear view camera and complete car menu and infotainment system.
An assortment of aesthetic and functional features are available in the all-new Tiguan, such as a KESSY keyless entry, leather multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters for easy manoeuvring, auto-dimming rear view mirror, cruise control, and Park Assist.
In terms of safety, the all-new Tiguan is equipped six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA), Multi-collision brakes, Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) as well as hill-hold control. Aside from that, anti-pinch power windows and ISOFIX anchorage point for child seats are also available as a standard feature.
Available in five colours, including Pure White, Deep Black, Atlantic Blue, Tungsten Silver and Indium Grey, the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan is now available for bookings and test drive arrangements at all authorized Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
