Need an expensive pair of new jeans? Now you can own a Beetle upholstered in denim as VW has just launched the 2016 Beetle Convertible 1.8T Denim Limited Edition.

The 2016 Beetle Denim pays homage to the 1970s Jeans Bug and it comes in two exterior colour options—Pure White or Stone washed Blue. The production run will be split equally between the two colours which means VW will only produce 1,000 units of the limited edition bug in white and the rest in blue. The convertible top has been finished in Dark Blue with a brand new textured fabric that resembles denim.

Inside the cabin, buyers will be able to find a unique light-blue-and-silver dashpad and jeans-inspired seat pockets with small Beetle flags in red. The light blue denim-colour cloth seating surfaces also feature white piping and dark blue leatherette accents.

As a standard feature, the 2016 Beetle Denim includes the Volkswagen MIB II infotainment system, which offers higher resolution, faster processing speeds, and crisper graphics than ever before. A 5.0-inch resistive touchscreen display comes with a host of standard features including AUX-in, SD card slots, and a USB multimedia interface with iPhone and iPod device connectivity, rearview camera display, and Bluetooth technology for compatible devices.

Under the hood, power is supplied by a 1.8-litre turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine that churns out 170hp and 250Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Available in a limited run of 2,000 units, the 2016 Beetle Convertible 1.8T Denim will be offered across the United States with a starting Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $25,995 (RM107,086). Belt, buckle, Stetson and six-shooter not included.
