Honda to debut all-new Civic in Thailand with VTEC Turbo

Honda Automobile (Thailand) recently announced that the Thai market will be getting both the turbocharged 1.8-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC engines in the all-new 10th generation Honda Civic. You may begin drooling now…

The VTEC Turbo engine installed in the new Honda Civic has been developed to provide a new and powerful performance with excellent fuel economy compared with conventional engines.  It provides high torque capacity with the operation of the turbocharger.

For the new Honda Civic engine, a 1.5-litre, direct-injected and turbocharged 16-valve DOHC inline-4, mated to a VTEC provide a maximum power of 173 hp at 5500 rpm with and a maximum torque of 220Nm at 5,500rpm. The 1.5-litre engine is equivalent in oomph to the brand’s naturally aspirated 2.4 litre engine, but with better fuel economy.

Because of its higher power output, the 1.5 turbo version is expected to be price-positioned above the 1.8-litre in the one million baht price vicinity. Available in 4 variants, the new Honda Civic is priced between 899, 000 baht to 1,149,000 baht.

  1. Honda Civic 1.8 S –  899,000 baht
  2. Honda Civc 1.8 E – 975,000 baht
  3. Honda Civic 1.5T – 1,099,000 baht
  4. Honda Civic 1.5T RS – 1,149,000 baht

The new Civic is also said to provide a wider body and lower ride to provide more sporty driving position and aggressive driving experience with more spacious interior space. Its overall dimensions are expected to be close to a D segment vehicle and will be generously equipped with plenty of modern amenities.
