Waze Launches Transport SDK to Empower On-demand & Transport Companies

Waze recently unveiled its newest initiative – the Waze Transport SDK (Software Developer Kit) to empower on-demand and transport companies to improve their services and grow their businesses with Waze ETA, turn-by-turn navigation and preferred routing displayed in their native applications.

Over the years, Waze has built its driving data from more than 50 million active users globally and it is one of the largest historical and predictive data sets that is available in the traffic industry. That said, the Transport SDK will bring an insight and data to partners, enabling easy implementation of navigation services and reducing the friction of swapping between applications.

The app was launched with six partners, including Lyft Inc, a ride-sharing company; The Genesis Group, an emergency-dispatch technology provider; JustPark Parking Ltd. of the U.K., whose app matches drivers with free parking spaces; Cabify, a ride-sharing service in Spain, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Colombia; 99Taxis, a Brazilian ride-sharing service; and Cornershop, a food-delivery service in Mexico and Chile.

One of the benefits in the partnership is that Waze can assist to grow the partners’ businesses by providing better optimized routes, meaning more customers will be served and eventually leading to more robust services. The new feature will make their application even better, as real-time information will be shared, for example seeing a delivery driver on a map.

This initiative is also beneficial for the customers because passengers will experience rides that are faster, more efficient and likely safer too. On top of that, customers can have the peace of mind when they see their cab’s location or know the exact minute their delivery will arrive directly from the application.

It is a two-way relationship where the Waze algorithm gathers data both passively and actively. The Waze map will continue to improve and amplify when hundreds of thousands of partner platform drivers are added to the algorithm on top of Waze’s existing 50 million Wazers.

Currently, the Waze Transport SDK is capable of supporting any partner where Waze has a presence in nearly all the countries except China. You can click on www.waze.com/transportSDK for more information on the application.
