New Mazda Koeru-inspired crossover spied undisguised!

Mazda Koeru Spy Shots (3)

It looks like Mazda is gearing up for a new production version of the Koeru Concept as these spy-shots have just been spotted showing it completely undisguised.

Tentatively called either CX-4 or CX-6, the spy-shot above reveals a new styling that looks similar to the Koeru Concept with only minor changes. The tall belt line, the low roof line, and the rakish D-pillar are essentially unchanged, but the crossover gets new tail lamps and a less futuristic front end that falls in line with Mazda’s current design language.

The crossover is believed to ride on the same platform as the CX-5, and it will likely use the same engines. That means entry-level models will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 155hp, and more potent models will benefit from a 184hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. It is mated to either a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Mazda hasn’t announced when it will show the production version of the Koeru Concept but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it debut at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show which opens its doors in March.
