BMW equips all-new G30 5-Series with BMW M Performance accessories

BMW launched the all-new G30 5-Series a couple of weeks back, keen to steal the executive sedan crown from Mercedes-Benz. The new G30 is expected to hit European roads in February 2017.

A couple of weeks after the debut of the BMW G30 5-Series, BMW will unveil the BMW M550i xDrive. At the same time, the Munich-based firm will launch its BMW M Performance accessories that are available for all variants of the new BMW G30 5-Series.

For the BMW 540i and 540i xDrive, BMW will offer a M Performance Power and Sound Kit which enhances the power output of the six-cylinder engine by another 34 hp and 50 Nm, bringing the total output to 360 hp and 500 Nm. BMW is keen to point out that despite the increase in power, fuel consumption and exhaust emission figures according to the EU test cycle are not affected. The power increase also comes with a matched silencer system that gives out a sportier exhaust note. The tailpipe trims can be had in chrome of carbon fibre via the BMW M Performance silencer system.

The BMW M Performance silencer can also be had as a separate retrofit option for the BMW 540i, 540i xDrive, 530i and 530i xDrive. On top of the improved engine note, the stainless steel sports silencer also adds to the visual appeal of the rear. Depending on the engine type, the tailpipe trims, in circular or trapezoid shape can be had in chrome of carbon fibre.

Diesel models are not left out, as BMW will be offering a BMW M Performance Active Sound exhaust system. Like its petrol-powered sibling, the exhaust ducting can be fitted with a circular or trapezoid tailpipe trim depending on engine variant, which can be finished in chrome or carbon fibre. The trapezoid tailpipe trims also come as a separate retrofit option for all variants of the new G30.

Come summer 2017, BMW will offer a M Performance Power Kit for the BMW 530d and 530d xDrive, which is said to increase output by another 27 hp and 30 Nm, bringing the total output to 292 hp and 650 Nm. Similar to the petrol G30 models, the M Performance Power Kit does not affect fuel consumption and emission figures.

On top of the added power, BMW will be offering the BMW M Performance sports brake system that combines a inner vented, perforated lightweight construction brake discs with a four-piston fixed caliper brakes on the front and single-piston floating caliper brakes on the rear. The brake calipers are finished in red.

Elsewhere, the new BMW G30 5-Series can be equipped with a set of 20-inch BMW M Performance light allow wheels in two-level, double-spoke design. Theses wheels can be had in Orbit Grey or in a Bi-Colour finishing. The BMW M Performance light alloy wheels are combined with mixed tyres in the sizes 245/35 R20 on the front and 275/30 R20 at the rear.

Aerodynamic bits are not forgotten, as BMW will offer model-specific M Performance aerodynamic bits to complement the M sports package and the M aerodynamics package, as a retrofit option. The aerodynamic bits include attachment parts for the front bumper, a rear diffuser and a rear spoiler in carbon fibre. As supplementary features, there is also a choice of black side sill attachments and – as an alternative to the carbon fibre version – a rear spoiler and rear diffuser made of polyurethane (PUR). The components made of the light high-tech material carbon fibre are elaborately crafted by hand.

Visually, the BMW G30 5-Series can be added with BMW M Performance carbon fibre exterior mirror caps, black BMW M Performance radiator grille, black BMW M Performance bars for the brake air channel and side sill stickers with M Performance inscriptions and accent strips.

Moving inside, BMW will offer a BMW M Performance sports steering wheel finished in Alcantara with red central marking and silver-grey cross-stitching. The sports steering is also matched with paddle shifted in models fitted with the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. According to BMW, the sports steering can be expected in summer 2017.

For a racing-inspired cockpit ambience there is a BMW M Performance sports steering wheel in Alcantara with red central marking in the 12 o’clock position and silver-grey cross-stitch seam: this is expected to be available in summer 2017. The BMW M Performance sports steering is also combined with shift paddles in vehicles fitted with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission.
