Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has started accepting bookings for the new Ioniq, which will be available here before the year ends.
For Malaysians, the Ioniq is powered by a 1.6-litre GDI four-cylinder Kappa engine paired to a 32 kW electric motor, allowing for a combined output of 141 PS and 265 Nm. Unlike other hybrids here, the Hyundai Ioniq is perhaps the first hybrid to be offered with a six-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). Hyundai says that the Ioniq’s battery pack is 23-25% more efficient than a conventional nickel-metal-hydride battery.
Standard equipment is rather generous as well, as the Hyundai Ioniq is tipped to include a touchscreen Audio Visual Navigator, a dynamic reverse camera, the Vehicle Stability Management and seven air bags that include a knee airbag for the driver.
With a wheelbase on 2,700 mm, the Hyundai Ioniq offers similar interior space like its sibling, the Elantra. Body construction is made out of 53.5% advanced-high-strength steel and lightweight aluminium.
he Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid will also be displayed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2016 which will be held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) from November 10 -13, 2016.
