The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is an interesting model from the Stuttgart-based firm, as the model evolved from a tall-ish 5-door hatchback into a significantly sportier model in 2012.

For the 2018 model year, Mercedes-Benz will be updating the A-Class, codenamed W177. Changes are massive, as the new A-Class is expected to receive wider tracks all round, improving cornering stability. Apart from that, Autoevolution also reckons that the new A-Class will receive a slightly longer wheelbase, which should improve interior space.

Design wise, the new A-Class will carry over some design elements, like the body lines that runs across the sides. Whilst the new model remains as a 5-door hatchback, sources have indicated that the new A-Class’s rear end will be a departure from the outgoing model, with long tail lights that cuts across the boot-mounted number plate via a trim piece.

Engine choices are expected to be carried over from the outgoing model, though Mercedes-Benz could introduce some improved engines along the way. Alongside the regular model, some rumours claimed that the new A45 AMG will boast 400 horsepower, a 20 hp jump from the current model.
