Spied! 2016 Honda Freed caught in Japan!

Slated to hit showrooms in September, spyshots of the 2016 Honda Freed have emerged from Japan, thanks to one Twitter user.

Honda has yet to release full specifications for the new Freed, but they did mention that the new model is now 4,265 mm in length, an increase of 50 mm over its predecessor. In Japan, the Freed’s nearest rival is the Toyota Sienta. with a length of 4,235 mm.

Honda Freed

Two engines are offered on the new Honda Freed. The first is a direct injection 1.5-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a CVT. The second option is a Sport Hybrid i-DCD system, featuring a dual clutch transmission, as indicated by its name: Intelligent Dual Cluch Drive. Buyers in Japan can also choose to have 4WD.

In addition to that, the new Honda Freed can be had in two variants, namely Freed and Freed+. The Honda Freed has seven seats, while the latter, has five. Three trims are available for both Freed and Freed+, namely EX, G and B. The regular petrol variants don’t get a EX variant.
