The coming months will be quiet for Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), as the company isn’t expecting to launch any new models until 2018.

Speaking to Carlist.my, sources familiar with the matter mentioned that ETCM will launch two new models, namely the Nissan Kicks and the all-new Nissan Serena, which is expected to arrive some time in 2018.

The Nissan Kicks was launched in Brazil in conjunction with the 2016 Rio Olympics. Underpinning the Nissan Kicks is the company’s V platform, that also underpins the Almera. Nissan has earlier reported that the Kicks will be first available in Latin America, before launching the model worldwide.

Next up is the all-new Nissan Serena. Japan is set to receive this new model some time this month, though it could take up to two years before the model arrives here officially. Despite being an all-new model, the Serena continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre MR20DD four-cylinder petrol engine, mated to an Xtronic CVT. Safety equipment on the all-new Serena is impressive, as it gets emergency braking system, Lane Departure Warning, Around View Monitor and Smart Rearview Mirror. In addition to that, the new Serena also gets Nissan’s new semi-autonomous driving mode, called ProPilot.

The current Nissan Serena is assembled at the Tan Chong Motor Assemblies in Serendah.
