Hot! We caught this Suzuki Ertiga-based MPV right after we left the Proton Centre of Excellence after concluding the Proton Perdana media drive. This new Suzuki-based MPV is Proton’s fourth new model for this year.

Slated to go head-to-head against the Perodua Alza, Proton is said to debut this new model in October, after the Saga and Persona goes official. The Suzuki Ertiga is a low-cost MPV that comes from Indonesia.

This is the first time we had a good look at the front end, as earlier spyshots only showed the rear end of the new compact MPV. This mule features front fog lights, indicating that at least one variant of the new MPV could receive a pair of front fog lights. Apart from that, the curvature of the front bumper indicates that its the Ertiga facelift that’s hiding under the disguise. In fact, it appears that not much has changed from the Suzuki Ertiga, including its front grille.

Elsewhere, the new MPV from Proton is likely to receive the similar beige interior as the Suzuki donor, while the powertrain is expected to be carried over as well. In Indonesia, the Suzuki Ertiga is powered by a 1.4-litre K14B four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 92 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. In Indonesia, buyers have the choice between a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.
