Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today presents Dawn in Malaysia, a super-luxury convertible which has been described as the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.
Dawn’s arrival into our local market sets the benchmark for super-luxury convertible, with Rolls-Royce targeting Malaysia’s anticipated growth in the luxury goods sector.
Speaking at the launch, Dato’ Michael Ong, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur said, “Through the years, we have seen the Rolls-Royce brand transform with a younger generation of entrepreneurs aspiring to own a Rolls-Royce. Ghost and Wraith reset perceptions of what a modern Rolls-Royce would look like. We are proud to partner with Rolls-Royce as we embark on this new journey.”
Rolls-Royce Dawn, the fourth model in the Rolls-Royce family, is a full 4-seater with equal amount of space for passengers so there is no compromise in comfort wherever you sit. As one would expect of a Rolls-Royce, Dawn has all the posh options including a four-zone automatic climate control, bespoke premium audio system with 16 individually-tuned speakers, chrome decorative inserts, and plenty of wooden and leather details dotted around the cabin.
“At Rolls-Royce, we pride ourselves as the creator of fine motors cars that also serve as social space,” comments Rolls-Royce Design Director, Giles Taylor. “The idea of creating a car like Dawn that can be used in comfort by only two adults on a day to day basis is anathema. In creating Dawn we have accepted no compromise to the comfort and luxury of four adults who want to travel together in the pinnacle of style.” he added.
It also features 80% unique body panels and even new tyres as special fitment for the model.
The highlight of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn is the new fabric roof that are developed to ensure that it does not only appears beautiful and sensuous in its form, but also contributes to the silence of the car in its function.
As a result, a perfectly smooth surface, combined with an innovative tailored ‘French Seam’ ensures that the air flow over the car with the roof up creates no noticeable wind noise. Inside, the Rolls-Royce Dawn is as silent as a Rolls-Royce Wraith – a first in convertible motoring.
The actual opening and closing of the roof mechanism had to be both beautiful and unobtrusive at the same time. The engineering team at Rolls-Royce even went so far as to invent a phrase for what they wished to achieve with the roof mechanism called the ‘Silent Ballet’. As a result, the roof is capable of operating in complete silence in just 22 seconds, and at cruising speeds of up to 50km/h.
Under the hood, power is supplied by a twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 powertrain that outputs 563bhp and a torque rating of 780Nm. This allows the Dawn to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250km/h. The 8-speed ZF automatic transmission uses the same satellite-guided software, using GPS data in order to select the most appropriate gear for the road ahead, in order to have the smoothest, most comfortable driving experience possible.
With a starting price of circa RM4 million, the Rolls-Royce Dawn will be available for viewing by invitation at Bangsar Shopping Centre from 22nd to 24th July 11.00am to 8.00pm.
