When the next-generation Suzuki Swift arrives, expect the little pocket rocket from Suzuki to receive a new turbocharged engine, dropping its famous high-revving naturally-aspirated mill.

Autocar has reckoned that the Swift Sport, when it debuts next year, will utilize the company’s 1.4-litre BoosterJet engine that currently powers the Suzuki Vitara. In the Vitara, the tiny engine outputs 138 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. These figures should ensure that the new Swift Sport will be a hoot to drive. Autocar further added that the new Swift Sport could potentially weigh less than 1,000 kg.

Elsewhere, the new generation Suzuki Swift will be receiving a more upmarket interior, with improved switchgear and perceived luxury. The exterior of the Swift also gets updated, though the new model will carry over the signature design, down to the iconic C-pillar.

Folks in the UK will receive the new Swift Sport at the end of 2017, though it would be unlikely for the car to debut locally any time soon (if ever).
