Tesla is looking to hire more than 1,600 new employees worldwide

Rapid hiring is typical for fast-growing companies. Tesla for instance, has a growing number of 800 employees to over 14,000 since the end of 2010.

Five years ago, the California-based company sold only one car, a limited edition Roadster, and only in the U.S. Now Tesla sells two electric models on three continents and Tesla Energy, which offers stationary battery systems for home, business and utility use, is its own business unit.

Of course, the nation’s youngest publicly traded automaker is still a pipsqueak compared with giants such as General Motors, which had 216,000 employees at the end of 2014 to operate 10 automotive brands around the world but based on the number of current job openings at Tesla, it looks like the company’s rapid expansion is only strengthening.

If you visits Tesla’s website today and you’ll be able to find  more than 1,600 jobs on offer around the world. Those jobs range from engineering jobs in Palo Alto, store manager in Helsinki, right through to a vehicle technician in Milan, service manager in Beijing and a sale advisor in Munich.

Although Tesla has an exceptionally high number of job openings, landing a job at the rapidly-expanding company isn’t easy as you may think. As a matter of fact, in the past 14 months, over 1.5 million people around the world have applied for jobs at Tesla. This comes despite the fact that the company has recently reported increasing losses, due largely to its research and development expansions.
