SK Bukit Beruntung wins Perodua Junior Safety Squad award for most creative safety video

SK Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor was awarded the winner for the most creative safety video competition held among primary school children in the third installment of the Perodua Junior Safety Squad programme.

The Perodua Junior Safety Squad programme is an initiative to further support the national education agenda by engaging students to think and solve issues creatively.

We are grateful for the enthusiasm shown, as a total of 74 entries were received from 32 schools in Selangor. We hoped that the participants all enjoyed their experience in making a video while staying safe at home and at school,” Perodua President & CEO, Datuk (Dr.) Aminar Rashid Salleh said at the award ceremony.

The event, which was held at Kidzania, Kuala Lumpur was also attended by the Deputy Education Minister 1, YB Tuan P. Kamalanathan.

The programme invited all primary schools in Selangor to send in safety video featuring their students and faculty of the hazards contained at home or at school. The competition was held between 1st July and 31st August 2015.

The Perodua Junior Safety Squad also awarded SJK (C) Tun Tan Cheng Lock as the winner for most points collected by participating teams, SK Bukit Niaga was named second runner up, followed by SK Bukit Beruntung.

Each winning school receives RM8,000, RM6,000 and RM4,000 respectively.

Started in 2013, the Perodua Junior Safety Squad was introduced to create awareness among school children aged between 7 and 12 years old of the dangers in school and at home. In the previous competitions, schools were instructed to produce a scrap book of the dangers at home and at school and offer their solution on how to overcome these hazards.

For this year, Perodua required schools to produce a video and the best safety video based on logic, acting ability as well as creativity to keep things interesting. The panel of judges found SK Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor as the most creative entry and we congratulate them for a job well done,” he added.

For coming in first place, each participating students from SK Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor received a Dell Inspiron notebook worth RM3,000, RM300 cash a bag pack, stationary set and a certificate. The teacher coaching the kids also receives RM300 in cash.

In addition to the prizes, Perodua also invited all the participating school children as well as its staff’s children to Kidzania for a day of fun and role play. A total 1,300 kids were sponsored of which 1,000 were from the 32 primary schools in Selangor.
