Ford’s October sales driven by its all-new Ranger

Ford recently announced that its October retail sales in Malaysia has jumped 30% compared to the previous month to 1,095 units. The exceptional month was Ford’s best since March, and was driven by strong nationwide demand for the recently-launched Ranger.

The segment-defining Ranger pickup continued as Ford’s best-selling nameplate with October retail sales soaring 48% over to the previous month to 956 units. Year-to-date Ranger sales have now risen 14% to 7,770 units, thanks to strong demand across the lineup, from the rugged XL to the range-topping Wildtrak.

As well as being Malaysia’s most powerful pickup, the new Ranger sets a new benchmark in the segment with an unmatched blend of capability – including best-in-class payload and water-wading – and advanced technology.

Ranger’s safety package is also unmatched, with a range of active and passive safety features that include up to 6 airbags and driver assistance technologies like Lane Keeping Aid and Adaptive Cruise Control. Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child safety mounts also come standard, making Ranger the only pickup truck in Malaysia to offer these two important safety features across all variants. All variants also feature driver and front passenger seatbelt reminders.

The new Ranger’s safety leadership was recently recognized by the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP), which awarded a maximum 5-star safety rating, with a total Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 15.45/16 points – the highest of any pickup on sale in Malaysia.

The company expects the new Ranger to continue to drive sales momentum through the end of the year.

“Over the past month, our showrooms across the country have welcomed thousands of Malaysians – from families in Kuala Lumpur to business owners in Kuching – who have been attracted by the new Ranger’s reputation as the most capable, powerful and smartest pickup in Malaysia,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia-Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

“We are excited the Ranger has been such a hit, and look forward to welcoming even more customers to the Ford family over the coming months,” he added.
