Perodua celebrated an early Deepavali with 118 orphans and senior citizens who celebrate the festival of lights in Ipoh, Perak as part of its national Corporate Responsibility programme.

The event saw Perodua staff spending time, distributing funds, school supplies, new clothes and hampers to 104 orphans and 14 senior citizens from welfare homes around Perak’s capital.

Beginning this year, we have further increased our Corporate Responsibility programme to other states within the country as we show our gratitude to the nation for their support in making Perodua as the most preferred compact automotive brand in Malaysia,” Perodua President & CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

The orphanages included in the programme are Vision Home, Arul Perum Jothy and Praise Girls Home, while Gloria Old Folks Home was chosen as the recipient for the senior citizen welfare home.

These organisations are chosen as they best represent those who truly needed support, not just from the Indian community but also those from government bodies and charity organisations,” Aminar said.

Some 10 volunteers from Perodua took part in the event, which include assisting in the cleaning of the charity homes, chaperoning the orphans to buy clothes and school supplies.

Perodua also contributed a hamper and other essential items to each home to help in the preparation for the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.

We hope our contribution would help in making the festival of lights that much brighter for those who are celebrating it and would help foster a greater understanding as well as harmony between our communities,” Aminar added.
