Production of the Mazda CX-3 began last year at Mazda’s Hiroshima plant, and AAT is the second production location of the new compact SUV. The Thailand production line is also the first overseas facility to start producing the model.

AAT is an extremely important hub that consolidates our system for supplying the CX-3 promptly and consistently to the growing compact SUV market,” commented Kiyotaka Shobuda. “By providing customer with Thai-produced vehicles that are as high-quality as those we make in Japan, we will work towards further raising our brand image.

The all-new Mazda CX-3 sits on a modified Mazda 2 platform, and will likely be powered by a 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. This new Honda HR-V rival is said to arrive next month with a price tag of RM130k onwards.
