The all-new Subaru Levorg has officially been launched by Motor Image, Southeast Asean’s exclusive Subaru distributor. Subaru’s latest model gets its name from a combination of words, namely Legacy, Revolution and Touring. The new Levorg is said to combine the practicality of a touring car, while maintaining the feel of a sports car.

“Subaru’s brand new model is an Innovative Tourer that combines the sports performance of Subaru with the practicality of a wagon. With a newly developed boxer engine, agile handling and an abundant load space, we feel that the Levorg will appeal to the functional, family orientated and adventurous customer who appreciates performance, touring capabilities and ample cargo space,” said Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director, Tan Chong International Ltd.

Under the hood of the all-new Subaru Levorg is a newly-developed 1.6-litre horizontally-opposed DIT boxer engine which delivers a peak of 170 PS from 4,800 rpm till 5,600 rpm and the full torque of 250 Nm is available from 1,800 rpm till 4,800 rpm. The sole transmission choice is a Lineartronic CVT which drives all four wheels via Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

On the outside, the all-new Subaru Levorg has a front end that is heavily inspired by the WRX sibling, with its large hexagonal front grille and signature hood air intake, which features auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers while the higher end Levorg 1.6 GT-S features High Beam Assist and Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD). Despite the small exterior, Subaru engineers have managed to achieve a large cargo space of 552-litre. With the seats folded down, the cargo space can be increased to 1,446-litre.

Moving to the inside, the sportiness of the Subaru Levorg continues with the flat-bottomed steering wheels and exclusive sport seats (GT-S only). The Subaru Levorg in the GT-S trim also gets blue stitches on the door cards, around the gear shifter and the multifunction steering wheel.

The Subaru Levorg comes with Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system and Active Torque Vectoring (ATV) which provide drivers with more confidence while behind the wheel. Furthermore, the Subaru Levorg is fitted with Emergency Stop Signal, seven SRS airbags, side door reinforcement beams, Brake Assist, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors. This new tourer from Subaru managed to score the maximum of five stars in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) crash test program.

The Subaru Levorg is expected to make a Malaysian debut in Q2 2016, though final specifications will be finalized later on.
