This heavily-camouflaged next-generation Honda Civic was spied at the IDIADA Proving Grounds in Spain. Look closely, and you will notice several oddities.
This particular prototype is wearing an Acura ILX-like front grille with three lower air intakes, similar to the leaked patent images. Things get a bit more interesting as we move to the side profile of the prototype, as the rims with low profile tyres are rather large, but the brakes behind it are tiny in comparison.
Perhaps this could be a regular Civic variant? But looking at the rear end, with its mismatched centrally-mounted exhaust pipes, it suggests that Honda could be testing the design from the Civic Concept. The rear lights design are similar to the patent images.
Could this prototype be Honda’s next-generation Civic Type R? Perhaps, but the small-ish brakes seem to suggest otherwise. With the new Civic’s debut slated to happen over the next few months, we will be updating this spot regularly!
