Recently the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) issued a press release regarding a recall expansion for an additional 2.3 million vehicles manufactured between January 2006 to December 2011 to address faulty air bags produced by supplier Takata.

According to the Japanese firm, the fault of the Driver Side Airbag inflator from these vehicles will be replaced at no cost to the customers.

As the official importer and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor has clarified that the recall made on 4th August 2015 over the driver side airbag inflator does not involve Toyota models sold by the company in Malaysia.

The 2.3 million vehicles manufactured between January 2006 to December 2011 involving Yaris, Hilux, Corolla and Fortuner only affects regions like Europe, China, Asia, Oceania, Middle East, Africa, Mexico, Latin and America.

On the other hand, the previous recall issued by UMW Toyota Motor in May this year only involves various Toyota models manufactured from year 2001 – 2007 which includes the Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Vios, Toyota Yaris and Toyota RAV4. Aside from that, there’s NO other recall being issued so far.
