Check out Audi A4’s cool optional matrix LED headlights! [+video]

Audi has released their latest teaser of the A4 compact sedan, this time showing off the optional matrix LED headlights.

The A4 (B9) will come standard with Xenon Plus headlights but at an additional cost, customers can get LED or matrix LED clusters, which in low beam resemble an eye and have 11 light diodes requiring just 20 watts of power, fitted into their car. As for the full beam, this is generated by 12 LEDs with 3 reflectors and work depending on the data provided by the camera mounted on the interior mirror. There’s a control unit which switches them on and off individually as necessary and can automatically dim the diodes in one of the 64 stages available.

According to Audi, this method enables the matrix LED headlights to distribute light in several million possible combinations which all provide optimal lighting without disturbing traffic participants. The headlight’s cornering function works with the optional MMI Navigation plus system and is activated even before the driver steers as the headlights “learn” from the sat-nav there’s a corner up ahead.

Lastly, the matrix LED headlights come with dynamic turn signals which have several light diodes activated sequentially from inside and out in the direction of the turn.
