Koenigsegg has just posted this on their Facebook page, a lone crate with the words “REGERA CRASH CAR”. Like any other big car company, as painful as it may sound, a Koenigsegg also has to undergo crash tests.

Before you shed manly tears, (too late) Koenigsegg was quick to point out that there is no Regera hiding inside the crate. They will however, need to submit their cars for the full suit of crash tests. No doubt, it will hurt.

The Koenigsegg Regera features electric motors, but Koenigsegg does not call it a hybrid. The Regera debuts with the Koenigsegg Direct Drive Transmission (KDD) which replaces the combustion engines traditional transmission and gives the added benefit of pure EV mode. Combined output stands at over 1,500 bhp and over 2000 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 150 to 250 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and 0 to 400 km/h under 20 seconds.

Koenigsegg promises to update more about the crash test process in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
