Launched in February, the Honda HR-V has finally undergone crash testing by ASEAN NCAP, and the Grade V variant of the Honda HR-V manages to secure the maximum of five-stars!
The Thailand-made Honda HR-V Grade E managed to score 15.21 points out of a maximum 16 points in the 64 km/h frontal offset crash test. Child occupancy protection was rated at 73% compliance. Our locally assembled Honda HR-V will carry the same ratings.
Among the prerequisites for a five-star rating is the inclusion of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which Honda calls Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). Seatbelt reminders are also necessary for the full five-star rating. Our local Honda HR-V Grade V only has the seatbelt reminder for the driver side, not including the front passenger, which prevents our local Honda HR-V from getting the full five-star rating.
Left: Our locally-assembled Honda HR-V gets a maximum of just four-stars, while the Thailand-assembled HR-V on the right gets the maximum of five-stars. Both cars are identical, except for the lack of the seatbelt reminder for the front passengers on all variants of the Malaysian Honda HR-V.
