Hyundai Sime Darby Motors have finally unveiled the much awaited Genesis to our local market. The launch of the new Hyundai Genesis also marks the opening of Hyundai’s First Flagship Global Dealership Space Identity (GDSI).
Slotting above the Hyundai Sonata, the Hyundai Genesis is Hyundai’s flagship model. The new Hyundai Genesis is Hyundai’s answer for a full-sized luxury sedan. In fact, the Hyundai Genesis already looks the part, with its large gaping chrome front grille and HID headlights giving it a very menacing look. Speaking of the front, the Hyundai Genesis boasts its own emblem. Our local Hyundai Genesis sports 18-inch alloy wheels all round, with 245/45R18 rubbers.
Coming in at 4,990 mm, the Hyundai Genesis is long, and boasts a wheelbase of 3,010 mm. These numbers translate into a very spacious interior. Legroom at the rear is generous, and the premium leather seats are ventilated. The driver’s seat is eight-way electronically adjustable and has memory function.
The Hyundai Genesis sports an 8-inch colour TFT display for its infotainment purposes, and has AUX, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has audio controls for better convenience. Audio is backed by a 7.1 channel 14 speaker set up from Lexicon.
Under the hood of the Hyundai Genesis lies a 3,778 cc V6 with petrol direct injection (GDI), with a total power output of 315 PS at 6,000 rpm and 397 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox transfers all the power to the rear wheels of the Hyundai Genesis. From standstill, the Hyundai Genesis can sprint to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds.
Safety wise, the fully-imported Hyundai Genesis comes with no less than 9 airbags, including knee airbag for the driver, side airbags and curtain airbags. The Hyundai Genesis also comes standard with Electronic Stability Program, which includes ABS, TCS and BAS. Apart from that, the Genesis also comes with Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Blind Spot Detection. The Hyundai Genesis also features adaptive cruise control. Other features of the Hyundai Genesis include Around View Monitor, Heads up display, paddle shifters, rear-view camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Auto Light Control and Smart Key with Keyless push start.
Priced at RM399,888, the Hyundai Genesis isn’t cheap, but the large sedan from Hyundai does pack quite a lot of features for the price paid.
As a value added service, new owners of the Hyundai Genesis will be getting a 2 year free membership for The Leader, a specially tailored concierge service that is exclusive to owners of premium Hyundai models. Among the VIP privileges that The Leader members can enjoy is complimentary access to the Plaza Premium Lounge at selected major airports in Malaysia, complimentary chauffeur driven ride to or from KLIA, KLIA2 or Subang Skypark and more. Genesis owners can benefit from the Leader-Genesis Card, which offers even more personalised services from hotel bookings to travel arrangements, Priority Service and an exclusive VIP lounge at selected showrooms, plus an additional four complimentary chauffeur service passes and four airport premier lounge passes.
