Alan Batey, president, GM North America and Global Chevrolet said, “Chevrolet is fast becoming one of the world’s most important mini- and small-car manufacturers, offering customers around the globe a new road to the refinement, efficiency and connectivity features that resonate with them. The redesigned 2016 Spark builds on a strong legacy and takes the segment to a higher level with features and technologies not typically offered.”

Powering the new Chevrolet Spark is an equally all-new 1.4-litre Ecotec engine with 98 horsepower. This is a good 16% more than its predecessor. The new engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT. The revised front end now features a pair of  large, elliptical headlights that replaces the old boxy ones. Handling and NVH levels are also said to have been improved thanks to a more rigid body shell. Also new to the Chevrolet Spark is the MyLink radio with a touchscreen LCD display.

The new Chevrolet Spark will also host some high-end safety features like Side Blind Spot Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. The US model will also have a grand total of 10 airbags, which includes driver and front passenger knee airbags, roof rail side airbags and seat-mounted thorax airbag. All of these are wrapped in the Chevrolet Spark’s tougher body structure.

Chevrolet says that the new Spark will go on sale in the US at the end of the year, and will be made in South Korea.
