For starters, MMM will be offering 5 different variants of the new Triton, ranging from the basic Triton Quest M/T 4×2, all the way up to the Triton VGT Adventure A/T 4×4. The VGT models will be powered by Mitsubishi’s tried-and-tested 2.5-litre DI-D Hyper Commonrail DOHC turbodiesel engine with 178 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Sorry folks, looks like the new 2.4-litre turbodiesel won’t be making an appearance here.

Won-Chul Yang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia said, “Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has been producing pick-ups for the past 36 years, since 1978, and to date, over four million units have been sold worldwide and in Malaysia, the Triton has found 55,000 proud owners since its launch in 2006. The new Triton, which is the fifth generation of the model series, has been developed based on the concept of ‘Smart Utility Truck’ and we believe it will impress customers with its new design and enhanced features, as well as even tougher engineering. The new Triton sets new standards and has many first-in-class features which will delight our customers.  Estimated introductory prices starts from RM71,000 to RM114,000.”

Push Start Button

The range-topping Triton VGT Adventure gets all the bells and whistle, including first-in-class features like Xenon HID headlights with LED daytime running lights and paddle shifters. The Triton VGT Adventure also gets dual zone climate control, touchscreen audio system with reverse camera, cruise control, auto headlights and wipers as standard. Push start button button and keyless entry is also available on the range topper. Price wise, MMM has estimated that the OTR price would be around RM114,000, which is inclusive of insurance and GST. Buyers can choose from 4 different colours for the Triton VGT Adventure, which includes Earth Green, Pearl White, Shadow Black and Red Solid.

4WD selector

The middle-of-the-line Triton VGT A/T and M/T also gets keyless entry and push start button. Apart from that, the Triton VGT also has a 4WD selector fitted. Interior wise, the Triton VGT drops the dual zone climate control, but does retain auto climate control. It will also retain the touchscreen audio system but without the reverse camera. Buyers can choose from three colours for the Triton VGT, ranging from Sterling Silver, Pearl White and Shadow Black. The Triton VGT M/T will retail for RM97,000 while the automatic variant will retail for RM103,000.

KOS

Just below the Triton VGT is the Triton M/T. It carries most of the features from the VGT model, but loses out on the auto climate control, touchscreen audio system and steering mounted audio controls. This model is only available with a manual transmission and will retail for RM87,000.

The basic Triton Quest M/T 4×2 makes no with none of the luxuries, but still retains the dual SRS airbags like the rest of the models. The Triton Quest will cost just RM71,000.
