The new Volvo S60 featuring a refreshed facade has arrived in Malaysia!

The new front design increases the S60’s road presence with more focused and determined-looking headlamps that help create a new, expressive ‘face’. The horizontal lines on the S60 have been emphasised at both the front and rear. Together with a wider grille and daylight running lights, these design touches give the S60 a striking, squat presence.

The previously visible washer nozzles have been relocated out of sight under the bonnet, similar to the new XC60. The radar cover has been painted gloss black, which helps it blend better with the grille. The chrome frame around the grille has been removed and the new, bigger iron-mark badge enhances the new look.

Similar to its predecessor, the S60 will utilise the familiar GTDi (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) engine, available in either a 2.0 litre T5 engine that churns out 240hp and 320Nm of torque, or a 1.6-litre GTDi engine (T4) that produces a good 180hp with 240Nm of torque. Both variants are paired with an automatic 6-speed Powershift transmission complete with Geartronic.

The interior remains largely unchanged, except for the new Digital Instrument Cluster with 8-inch Adaptive Digital Display. It uses TFT (Thin Film Transistor) crystal display to bring the driver personalised information with 3 themes to choose from; Elegance, Eco and Performance.

On the dashboard,  there’s a 7-inch colour screen  that is positioned high up to make it easy for the driver to keep his or hers eyes on the road. All the functions can be controlled via buttons built into the steering wheel or via touch buttons located just below the colour screen.

Apart from that, the Bluetooth connection has been upgraded to allow not only hands-free phone conversations but also music streaming from a preferred Bluetooth enabled portable music player.

The S60 is loaded with a myriad of safety features to help prevent the driver, passengers as well as the pedestrians from possible injuries. For instance, the S60 comes with a Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection where the car will automatically apply full braking power if a cyclist or a pedestrians heading in the same direction as the car suddenly swerves out in front of the car.

Other new and improved safety systems available in S60 includes a radar-based Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA); an improved City Safety system which is now active up to 50 km/h; and Road Sign Information (RSI) which supports the driver by displaying the road signs in the instrument panel (T5 only).
