The fifth generation Hyundai Elantra has undergone revamps that benefits from cosmetic change and interior upgrades.

Available in 3 variants; 1.6 Elegance, 1.6 Premium and 1.8 Premium, the Hyundai Elantra facelift, now feature new projector headlamps with LED light guides, vertical fog lamps that sit within L-shaped housings, chrome door handles and LED combination tail lamps, amongst others.

Inside the cabin, a redesigned dashboard with more standard features is expected and a plethora of new features as well as safety tech will be on offer. There are certain features to trickle down from the recently launched Hyundai Sonata onto the facelifted Elantra. For instance, the Andriod based touch screen as seen in the Sonata is now available on 1.8 Premium variant. It allow access to your phone’s applications via the car’s navigation screen with MirrorLink function for both Andriod and iOS based mobile phones.

Apart from that, the 1.6 Premium and 1.8 Premium variant also benefit from Supervision Cluster with 3.4-inch OLED Display, rear-view display system, rear air ventilation system, dual zone full auto conditioning system with ionizer (1.8 Premium only), steering wheel remote control system as well as Flex Steer System that allow drivers to choose from normal, comfort and sport modes according to their preference and driving conditions.

Powertrain remains the same, a 1.6 litre Gamma engine that is equipped with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing to boost horsepower output of 130PS and 157Nm of torque, as well as a 1.8 litre NU four-cylinder engines that is capable of a maximum 150PS while its peak torque rating of 178Nm. Both engines are connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Elantra is also packed with active and passive safety features to help keep you safe on the road. Besides 6-airbags (excluding 1.6 Elegance) and child-seat anchors, the Elantra is also equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC),Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Hill Assist Control (HAC), while the 1.8 Premium comes with the addition of Front & Rear Parking Assist System (PAS).

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has yet to reveal the it’s official price tag but it is estimated to start from RM85,888 to RM118,888. If you would like to have a closer look of the new Elantra 1.8 Premium (picture above), you can drop by at the new Hyundai Bangsar Boutique Showroom along Jalan Maarof.
