KIA GT Concept showcases Korean automakers’ coming of age

Remember back when your parents and friends argued that Korean cars weren’t all that great? Well, take a look at them now. Many years down the road, Korean automakers have risen and have begin to produce cars that are bringing the fight to many established automakers from Japan and Europe and a fraction of its cost.

Critics may argue that while Korean cars are getting better to look at, they’re still dull to drive. Guess what, it appears the Koreans are making their way into sports car category too now. KIA has just launched a teaser of the GT4 Stinger Concept. It will be rear-wheel drive and powered by a turbocharged 2.0L engine producing 315bhp. Also seen here is the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, as seen in recent KIA cars. At first glance, it does look impressive.

Provided they change the K900 name to something more meaningful, it looks like the Koreans have finally started to make exciting cars, seriously. More details will be revealed when the car makes its debut in Detroit Auto Show in a few weeks time.
