Ford recently announced its best-ever November performance in Malaysia with overall retail sales jumping 32% year-over-year to 1,080 units, driven by the segment-defining Ranger and Fiesta nameplates.

Ford’s year-to-date sales in Malaysia have now risen to 29% to 12,506 units, placing the company on track for a record sales year in Malaysia.

“This great November result shows that our global Ford vehicles – with their strong focus on safety, performance, fuel efficiency, smart technologies and head-turning style – are widening their appeal to more and more customers across the country,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

Ford Ranger

The November performance was led by the Ranger pickup with sales that surged 49% year-over-year to 750 units. Through November, Ranger sales have risen 47% to 7,581 units as strong demand continues to grow across the full lineup.

The full Ranger lineup is now equipped with additional active and passive safety features, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.

The sporty Fiesta delivered retail sales that grew four percent year-over-year to 162 units in November, helping drive year-to-date sales up 26% to 2,912 units.

New Ford Fiesta

Healthy demand for Fiesta is being driven by its high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine variant – which delivers a class-leading combination of performance, fuel efficiency and emissions levels. The variant recorded its best-ever month in November, with two out of every three Fiesta buyers choosing the 1.0L EcoBoost variant.

“It’s great to see that more and more customers are appreciating the impressive performance and low-cost of ownership that the 1.0L EcoBoost engine delivers. It truly makes the Fiesta a unique value proposition in the segment,” explained Westerman.

The Fiesta lineup grew even further in November, with the arrival in showrooms of the feature-packed Fiesta ST, a gutsy, compact performance car that boasts both responsiveness and raw power.

November also saw initial fleet deliveries of the locally-assembled Transit commercial vehicle commence, as well as the official launch of a network of nine Quick Lane service centres across Peninsular Malaysia. The network forms part of Ford’s strategy to improve customers’ after sales and ownership experience, with SDAC investing RM140 million in new and existing dealerships over the next two years.

“We are confident that our growing lineup of global Ford vehicles, together withour commitment to providing each and everyone of our current and future customers with an unmatched ownership experience, will continue to support our strong growth in Malaysia,” added Westerman.
