Datuk Hasan Malek, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister has announced that all subsidies for RON95 petrol and diesel will be stopped beginning December 1.

Prices for RON95 petrol and diesel will be fixed according to a managed float, much like how our RON97 are priced. This means that our RON95 prices will be affected from next month onwards.

Currently Malaysians pay RM2.30 for a litre of RON95 (unsubsidized price is RM2.43), while per litre of diesel retails at RM2.20 (unsubsidized price is RM2.32), while RON97 retails for RM2.55 per litre, a difference of a mere 25sen.

As always, AF will keep you updated on further developments.
