Volvo adds 1300 workers to meet demand for XC90

Good times are ‘on a roll’ for Swedish carmaker Volvo! The all-new XC90 SUV is doing tremendously well worldwide and that’s driven Volvo to add a third shift with 1300 job vacancies available in its Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, Sweden.

With that, Volvo will have a total number of 4600 workers at its Torslanda plant, representing a 40-percent increase in workforce. Volvo has also added a new body shop at Torslanda that’s set to increase its production capacity to 300,000 annually.

The new Volvo XC90 made its debut in late August and has become an instant success for this Swedish company. The First Edition of the Volvo XC90 comprises 1,927 units for sale via the Internet, was snapped in less than 2 days. The Volvo XC90 should make its appearance in Malaysia by 2015.
