Volkswagen’s Tristar Concept Previews new Transporter T6

No, Jason Statham isn’t ditching his Audi for this Volkswagen, despite its name and how tough it looks. Instead, Volkswagen is set to unveil the new generation Transporter, the T6, set to be launched in 2015. The new Transporter is set to be based on VW’s Tristar Concept as seen in the images here.

Familiar VW goodies were given to this Tristar Concept; with the car powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine that produces 204bhp with 449Nm of torque, and mated with seven-speed DSG with permanent all-wheel drive. VW also takes this opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Syncro – VW’s own all-wheel drive system. VW claims it can sprint a 0-100km/h at 10 secs with the top speed of 185km/h. Seriously!

Although it is just a concept, commercial drivers will love the Tristar’s clean and premium interior quality, something we normally don’t associate on commercial vans. The front leather seats can slide and turn, with a tablet computer behind the front seats. Perhaps the tablet computer is used by the drivers to coordinate routes or probably kill their time for a “Clash of Clan” game. What do you think folks? Should VW Malaysia bring this in if it’s ever made? Would you want one?
